About this coffee

This exceptional 74158 varietal coffee is a testament to craftsmanship and tradition.

Ripe cherries are carefully harvested and mechanically de-pulped without water, retaining their natural mucilage to preserve their unique flavours. Hand-stirred on raised beds to ensure even drying, the beans undergo a meticulous natural process where only the outer skin of the cherry is removed.

The result is a cup bursting with vibrant notes of honeysukle, lavnader, white grape and meyer lemon, delicately balanced by floral undertones and a structured, yet harmonious, acidity.
Beyond its flavor, this coffee reflects Daye Bensa's dedication to sustainability and environmental care. Nestled in the lush landscapes of Shantawene, the Gatta farm nurtures biodiversity by planting shade trees to protect the soil and maintain a thriving ecosystem. Certified Organic, C.A.F.E. Practices, UTZ, and Rainforest Alliance, every step of the process supports ethical practices that benefit both the environment and the local community.
This coffee invites you to savour not just its exceptional flavour but the story behind every bean—a story of tradition, sustainability, and the vibrant spirit of Shantawene.

Producer information

The Dukamo brothers, Asefa and Mulugeta, founded Daye Bensa Coffee with a bold vision: to connect the exceptional coffees of their family and neighboring farmers with the world.

What began as a local supply operation has transformed into a global initiative, giving farmers access to international markets and ensuring they receive fair income for their work. By registering farmers as partners, Daye Bensa builds a foundation of trust and support, allowing communities to thrive sustainably.
Farm Overview
At the heart of Daye Bensa is a commitment to ethical practices and unparalleled quality. Certified Organic, C.A.F.E Practices, UTZ, and Rainforest Alliance, they demonstrate that sustainability and excellence go hand in hand. Beyond coffee, they empower farmers, protect local ecosystems, and create opportunities that uplift entire communities.
Unique Terroir
Daye Bensa’s Gatta Farm is at the heart of Shantawene Village, in Sidama Bensa, Ethiopia. It sits at an altitude of 2120 – 2210m in the midst of a natural forest. The site is surrounded by indigenous trees, which are older than 100 years, waterfalls, and rivers. One of the rivers separates Shantawene from Bombe and runs from the hills above Keramo. Gatta Farm has been named after a waterfall which crosses the farm.

Daye Bensa’s Gatta Farm isn’t only a farm, it consists of a drying station, a lodge and a training facility. During harvesting season, the drying station becomes active and also offers accommodations for employees or trainees until the training has ended. The training facility offers training in coffee processing for interested individuals.

Every cup of Daye Bensa coffee reflects this dedication—combining craftsmanship, care for the land, and a deep respect for the people behind the beans. It’s coffee with a purpose, bringing you closer to the producers who make it all possible.
